There are many types of refractometers and they measure different types of products. The two types of refractometers that Testequip Supply are the traditional handheld, optical refractometers and the digital handheld refractometers. We also supply a new style PEN-urine refractometer from Atago in Japan. This measures the specific gravity of urine to determine the dehydration level of the subject.

This is especially important for athletics or for workers in hot environments where hydration in the workplace is essential. Typically the industrial refractometers we supply measure sugar content in the scale of Brix. This is important for the food and beverage industry to maintain or test the sugar level in food or fluids.

Veterinarians and breeders also use refractometers to measure the quality of colostrums in the scale of Brix. Other common refractometer scales are baume, Specific Gravity (SG), Reflective Index (RI) and salinity. We supply options from Atago and also Starr instruments which have the new DBR-1 unit which measures Brix from 0-50% with 0.1% accuracy.

All Refractometers stocked feature automatic temperature compensation (ATC) for accurate testing of samples above ambient temperature. Digital models, PAL series and DBR are IP66 rated for dust and water ingress allowing easy wash up under running water.
